On one of our first days of summer vacation, the team visited Pineland Farms in New Gloucester to make ice cream. Paula Letiecq, who teaches the class, is a friend, so we were thrilled to visit for the morning. She tells us we’ll be making three kinds of ice cream: strawberry, vanilla, and M&M cookie.

CP#2 can’t wait to get started making his own ice cream.

It’s raining… again. And tomorrow’s forecast calls for more. What’s a parent to do? MP went through some of Cute Potato’s favorite rainy day activities to help:

1. Visit an Indoor Play Space
Try Portland’s Greenlight Studio or The Rumpus Room in Brunswick. Also, don’t forget to check out your nearby libraries for fun children’s programs and free play.

Father’s Day is on Sunday, and MP needs to find a thoughtful gift for DP. Truth be told, he ordered himself a heart monitor for exercising, but that’s not quite what she had in mind. Here are some of the ideas she’s mulling over for Dad Potato’s big day:

1. A Visit to Lion’s Pride

DP went to Ebenezer’s Pub in Lovell recently and still raves about the visit. The pub, which boasts 35 Belgian beers on tap, was named the #1 beer bar in America by Beer Advocate Magazine. Impressive, right?  Jen and Chris Lively, who own Ebenezer’s, also own Ebenezer’s Brew Pub in Brunswick. The Brunswick location has a tremendous selection of beers and a menu that includes house made Belgian frites. We can’t wait to visit.

MP had the pleasure of visiting Cammie and Kip Weeks, co-owners of eco-kids, a Portland-based company that offers non-toxic and natural art supplies for children. Our team has long been fans of their eco-dough, paints, and crayons, but little did we know how much effort and time goes into making the products.
