Over the weekend, the CP family hosted a dinner with friends and neighbors. MP thought it might be fitting to serve a Halloween-themed meal. While brainstorming ideas, she discovered this irresistible Frankenstein pizza on iVillage.
To make, all you need is store bought pizza crust (we like Portland Pie Co.) Spread the pizza crust on a rimmed cookie sheet. The iVillage recipe uses a mix of Alfredo sauce and pesto as a base, but we opted for a ready-made pesto we had in the fridge. For toppings, we used a combination of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
We created the face using a combination of ingredients:
Hair: Pepperoni cut into triangles
Ears: Sliced green pepper
Eyes: Sliced red onion and two black olives cut in half
Nose: Red pepper
Mouth: Sliced pepperoni
Scars: Black olives
Bolts: Green pepper slices with whole black olives
Bake the pizza at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes. The crust should appear light brown and the cheese should be bubbling.
We also made a traditional, cheese pizza to look like a Jack-o-Lantern. The stem at the top is a green pepper slice. The face is made from red pepper, but you can use pepperoni, too.
Hope you and your family enjoy these quirky (and delicious) pizzas. Happy Halloween to all! xo, Cute Potato

We made jack-o-lantern pizzas a few weeks ago! Love the Frankenstein version. Such fun!
