We recently stopped by Skyline Farm in North Yarmouth for their annual sleigh day event. The event is designed as a fundraiser for the historic farm, which is home to an antique carriage museum and two miles of public trails.
On the day we visited, John Sczymecki of Hideaway Farm in Topsham provided group rides with his handsome team of draft horses. The weather was mild and overcast, but it was a treat to be out with family while cuddled up together in the sleigh. During the ride, we enjoyed a classic February in Maine scene — rolling white farm fields against the backdrop of evergreens, barren trees and gray skies.
In case you missed the Skyline event, there are more farms throughout the state that offer carriage and sleigh rides for groups throughout the winter. Following is a list of some of our favorite farms and stables statewide:

Whichever farm you choose, we hope it’s an experience to remember!
PS: If you’re interested in checking out another sleigh riding event, don’t miss the The World’s Greatest Sleigh Ride, which happens each year right around Valentine’s Day.
