Sara Sullivan is a Yarmouth-based, certified nutritionist, who you may have spotted on Good Day Maine. MP discovered Sara’s healthy, family-friendly recipes on Facebook. She became an instant fan after trying Sara’s Mango Coconut Smoothie (made with 1 cup of spinach) for an after school snack. To MP’s delight, CP#2—who is afraid of green vegetables—loved it!

Autumn’s glory is upon us!

I don’t know about you, but I am loving the cool air, the brilliant colors of the trees, and of course, the seasonal delicacies. I find that going apple picking, drinking fresh cider, and baking crisp apple chips just feels right this time of year.

A fall trip to Wallingford’s Fruit House in Auburn is a Cute Potato family tradition, dating back to when DP was a wee lad. The space has changed over the years—there’s a big, backyard play area, a farm store brimming with toys and food gifts, and more cars in the parking lot. We go to the orchard to buy apples and cider, but our main reason for visiting is to indulge and enjoy Wallingford’s delicious homemade donuts.

The classic bakery reminds MP of a New Jersey farm she visited as a child. No matter how old you are, there’s something magic about pressing your face against the glass to watch the donuts come hot off the conveyor belt. (more…)
