Sometimes MP gets the chance to preview products that are too great not to share. Case in point: Tom & Teddy swimwear for fathers and sons. The colorful, Australian swim line is not sold in local stores yet, but you can shop Tom & Teddy online. MP thinks the swimwear is just right for Maine summers.

Father’s Day is fast approaching, and as usual, MP is behind schedule! Thankfully, there are plenty of great shops and purveyors nearby to help with gift giving. Take for example the smart folks at Coffee by Design, who are offering a special, dark roast just for dads. Even better, one dollar for each pound sold of this coffee goes to Boys to Men—a non-profit organization that teaches adolescent boys the importance of non-violence and respect for all genders.

Update: Shoreside Chic is now called Boheme Chic.

Whenever MP is asked what she’d like for a special occasion, the answer, without fail, is jewelry from Shoreside Chic. Portland-based jewelry designer, Kate Clark, makes simple but beautiful pieces inspired by vintage and nautical designs. You’ll find everything from bold statement necklaces to classic earrings and bracelets you can wear everyday.

MP and CP#1 enjoyed a girls’ day out recently, while the boys headed to the Museum of Science in Boston for the Mammoths and Mastodons exhibit. We ladies decided to stay local and started our day with a decadent brunch at Silly’s in Portland.

After we stuffed ourselves on pancakes and eggs, MP decided to visit the Portland Flea-for-All. CP#1 is always game for shopping, but MP silently wondered if a flea market would be the best place for a six year-old girl.

While flipping through an old notebook, MP came across a list of highlights from Portland’s Picnic Art + Music Festival. She was thrilled to re-discover Erin Flett’s business card taped to one of its pages. The accomplished, Gorham designer makes colorful pillows—each featuring an original screen print on vintage reproduction bark cloth. What MP didn’t realize then is Erin also makes a gorgeous line of pillows for little ones.

We love this pillow’s cheerful design (think spring)
